Practise with purpose. Progress with clarity.

While studying at university, I was fortunate to learn from some of Australia’s best music educators.

They helped me hone the skills I needed to work as a professional musician — improvisation, rhythm, harmony, technique — and, most importantly, how to practise with purpose.

Today, I coach musicians who want that same clarity and direction.

If you’re stuck, plateauing, or just tired of going it alone — I’ll help you build a practice routine that actually works and gets you real results.

The tools my mentors gave me helped me find my path as a musician.

My goal is to do the same for you.

  • Discover and refine your own unique style of playing
  • Prepare for exams, auditions, gigs
  • Develop your musical ear, so you can learn your favourite songs, licks and solos quickly and easily
  • Develop a rock solid foundation that allows you to easily move between different genres
  • Learn the music you love
  • Learn the skills to help you become a professional gigging musician

I’ve worked as an instrumental instructor in many primary schools and high schools including: The Knox School, Geelong Grammar School, Brighton Secondary College, Fitzroy High, Footscray City Primary and more.

During that time, I’ve also been running my private teaching business for around 15 years, where I’ve taught students ranging from 5 to 78 years old.

I enjoy the variety of working with people of all age groups so no matter what you’re age, I’d love to work with you.

Yes! I have a Bachelor Of Music (Hons).

Yes! I can help you with learning the basics of theory all the way to advanced jazz harmony.

I love the study of harmony, rhythm and melody and I’ve spent a lot of time assimilating music theory into my playing.

Many theoretical concepts I learned were from players who didn’t play the same instrument as me so it’s definitely something I can help with regardless of the instrument you play.

I started my guitar journey playing blues and rock music. That led to hard rock, grunge, psychedelic rock and nu metal in my teenage years.

I later got into a lot of 60’s and 70’s progressive rock which led to jazz. Upon studying jazz at university, a whole lot of live opportunities playing all sorts of genres came up:

Improvised music, rockabilly, gypsy-jazz, alt-rock, fusion, jazz, bluegrass, ska, metal, soul, pop, r’n’b, blues, folk and more.

More recently I have taught myself a number of pieces from the classical repertoire, and also studied flamenco guitar in 2017/18
